Chocolate self saucing pudding

  • 60g unsalted butter
  • 100g caster sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla essence
  • 20g cocoa
  • 125g self raising flour
  • 125ml milk
  • 125g caster sugar
  • 20g cocoa
  • 375ml hot water


  1. Preheat oven to 180 degrees C.
  2. Place butter and sugar into a large mixing bowl and whisk together until light and creamy.
  3. Add the egg and vanilla essence and whisk to combine.
  4. Fold in sifted cocoa and flour alternatively with the milk.
  5. Place into the prepared baking dish.
  6. Mix together the sugar and cocoa for the sauce and sprinkle over the pudding base.
  7. Gently pour the hot water over the mixture.
  8. Bake for approximately 35-40 minutes.
  9. Serve with vanilla custard or ice cream and fresh berries.


For this pudding you will need 1 medium size oven proof baking dish, lightly buttered
